AOP-commissioned operas and operas supported by AOP are given readings and workshops at the South Oxford Space, 138 S. Oxford St, Brooklyn, and other performing spaces, enabling composers and librettists to present works-in-progress before an audience. In commissioning a new work or granting a fellowship to creators, AOP will assist in its development by taking it through the reading and workshop process.

American Opera Projects is currently restructuring its submission policy to ensure adequate review and response in the future.

At this time, AOP is no longer accepting unsolicited submissions. If you have submitted a work for consideration, AOP will respond to your submission as soon as it is possible.

Singers are always invited to submit materials. American Opera Projects periodically holds general auditions for singers. We will keep your materials on file and contact you when scheduling auditions. You may send us your information by e-mail to with the subject heading “AOP New Singer Info”.
